What: This course provides an overview of project risk management techniques. Participants identify project risks and manage those risks throughout the project life cycle. Specific emphasis will be placed throughout the course on having a proactive mindset with response to risk for effective project management.

Outcomes / Learning Objectives:

  1. Define risk management
  2. Understand the advantages of risk management as a process
  3. Identify all project risks in a team environment
  4. Write effective risk statements
  5. Perform qualitative risk analysis for project risks
  6. Develop the criteria for a qualitative risk matrix
  7. Plot qualitative risks on a risk matrix
  8. Perform quantitative risk analysis for project risks
  9. Use three point estimates to characterize costs and schedule risks
  10. Perform expected value calculations
  11. Select quantitative or qualitative risk analysis based on the +’s and -’s of each method
  12. Generate risk response plans
  13. Screen and prioritize risks
  14. Communicate risks to project stakeholders to maximize customer satisfaction
  15. Explain how our “risk attitudes” affects how we manage risks
  16. Understand the importance of updating risk plans
  17. Recognize that risk monitoring and control is an ongoing process
