Position: Principal Applications Specialist

What: The Library is seeking a creative, collaborative, and solutions-oriented Principal Applications Specialist to analyze, design, deliver, and support enterprise solutions to enhance the Library’s public services, administration, and communications functions. The Library’s primary solutions platform is Microsoft SharePoint, but other applications and solutions platforms are in use and may be within the scope of this position’s responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
• Perform basic Site Administration for the Library’s Microsoft SharePoint-based Intranet site, including creating and designing new sites; incorporating new web parts; managing permissions; and defining lists, content types, and other components.
• Implement, integrate, and configure applications that improve Library business processes, organizational productivity, communication, and collaboration.
• Support end users in making effective use of productivity, communication, and collaboration applications, such as Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
• Collaborate with Library staff to develop solutions to improve organizational information and document management, records retention, and archiving.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required (materials submitted with letters of interest should reflect that you have the following):
• A Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience and certification required.
• Experience in the analysis and delivery of web-based applications, showing problem-solving ability and business process understanding.
• Experience using Microsoft SharePoint forms, lists, etc., and with SharePoint-related applications. Experience with services such as SharePoint Designer, Excel Services, and InfoPath are desired.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment. An ability to collaborate well with others and to lead a group with diverse opinions to consensus.
• Excellent communications, writing, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to convey technical information to non-technical staff or customers and to help others in the organization develop knowledge of software tools at a level of understanding appropriate to their job function.
• Demonstrated proactive organizational skills and attentiveness to details, along with the ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple on-going, routine tasks. This includes a good eye for detail and consistency.
• Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer service; ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers.
