Position: Web Developer Professor

What: Tacoma Community College is seeking TWO web developer instructors to teach students at Washington Corrections Center for Women and Mission Creek Corrections Center for Women. Instructors will teach students full-stack web development in full-time programs at our campuses in Gig Harbor and Belfair, WA. Many of our students have little experience with technology and coding; we are looking for instructors who can inspire students brand-new to the field, educate them in the latest technologies and help them connect with the community when they release. This position reports to the Director of Corrections Education. This is a full-time, temporary corrections faculty position contracted on an annual basis. Placement on the faculty salary schedule will be commensurate with educational background and experience. The salary will be prorated to reflect the actual contract days remaining in the academic year.
Responsibilities:
• Teach web development courses to incarcerated students.
• Plan, develop and deliver curriculum content.
• Support students in their exercises and project work.
• Help find guest speakers and additional instructors.
• Help students prepare for their job search upon release.
• Network with community based organizations that support students returning to their communities.
• Work with other instructors and staff to develop additional courses.
• Work closely with other instructors, college staff and the Washington Department of Corrections to create quality learning experiences adapted for the prison environment.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Bachelors degree in Information Technology or closely related field from an accredited college or university.
• Five years professional web development experience.
• Strong understanding of JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Ruby on Rails, PHP, debugging, project management.
• Masters degree in Information Technology or related field from an accredited college or university.
• Experience teaching in a community college.
