What: Cloud platforms represent a large, often global network of interconnected devices. Cloud platforms allow the consumption of each customer to grow while maintaining an environment where many individuals use a set of common and shared resources. In addition to this elasticity, there is also complexity based upon type of device. The cloud platform is an infrastructure of connected devices of different types and different manufactures. There are many types of devices such as: network devices, storage devices, and compute devices. Our ability to load balance differs across devices of different types. Accurate forecasts initially require building a map of the network and devices based both upon device hierarchy and device function. This presentation will discuss how we collect and organize data in order to predict future capacity needs.
