Judicial Power and the System of Checks & Balances

We are pleased to announce the timely addition of U.S. District Court Judge Robert Lasnik to our March Civic Cocktail as the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upholds the nationwide restraining order against the Trump administration’s immigration ban. In a one-on-one conversation with multimedia journalist Joni Balter, Judge Lasnik will discuss the limits of presidential powers, historical precedents for the court’s ability to review executive orders such as the immigration ban and the judicial role in the system of checks and balances in government.
