Brews & Code – Tipsy Open Study Lab – Junior Dev Struggle Bus

November 19, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Come hang out, code, and mingle in a bootcamp open lab style learning environment in a dope non-pretentious old timer brewpub. Big Time Brewery brews all the beer on their menu, all of which is crazy delicious. No hard alcohol is served here (which seems to keep it more low key). Ask for help thats needed for your projects, portfolio, or super edgy implementation of a Binary Search Tree. Please do not disturb anybody thats wired in (headphones in, do not disturb).

They got super tasty food and the crowd here is mostly students, ex engineers, creatives, and other tech peeps. I moved the meetup to mondays, the slowest day of the week at BT to double down on the low key vibe of the event. The entire back room is booked out for us junior devs rockin’ the struggle. We will have a handful of senior dev’s, the official JDSB career coach Roger L Harris, and possibly some recruiters out for fresh blood.

Please be advised! I dont mean to offend with this PSA but last meetup, I’ve decided to be relaxed on the hard no-show RSVP policy of the struggle bus. I’m giving the handful of peeps that didn’t show a chance since I kind of just dropped it in an email last minute which I’m sure not everyone read. If I wasnt relaxed about it at this point I’d be a huge douchebag, I want everyone to have a chance to read this…

The Junior Dev Struggle Bus has a hard no-show RSVP policy. RSVPs are very important to the coordination and logistics of meetup events. I have a relationship with this venue to maintain and every RSVP has a seat reserved for them. Empty seats that dont show cost Big Time and reflect on the word I’ve given to the owner of Big Time. Truth-bomb: Integrity, your word, is the most important concept for you to grasp for the sake of your career and personal life. You’re only ever making decisions out of integrity or how you feel. If you’d rather cut off your finger than break your word, there is nothing you cannot accomplish. If you grasp how powerful your word is, and speak of how it really is, your word in the universe becomes law. Let that sink in.

Please be the best versions of yourselves and only RSVP if you actually show up to the event. If you RSVP and something comes up, no problemo, honor your word by changing your status to ‘not coming’. Otherwise if you’re slated to come and you dont show, you will not be allowed to attend any future events.

From the feedback I’ve received, JDSB now has a slack channel to provide coding help and career opportunities in between events. Join and stay tuned! The more people that join this the better the help everyone will be able to get. I will make sure to pass this channel along to the senior devs I’m in contact with. Lastly I have had a lot of people reach out to me providing job opportunities for you folks! When I find a moment I will make sure to post them in the slack channel:
