MIT Enterprise Forum: The Internet of Things; Business Opportunities in a World of Wirelessly Connected Objects

March 16, 2011 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$30 – $60

MIT Enterprise Forum: The Internet of Things: Business Opportunities in a World of Wirelessly Connected Objects

When: March 16, 5 p.m.

Where: Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI), 2700 24th Ave. E., Seattle

What: Many everyday objects are becoming embedded with sensors, giving them the ability to communicate data with one another. Almost any device with an electrical pulse can become Internet-enabled, allowing data to be shared and reported in new ways. How will all of the data be mined to create useful conclusions? What technologies will be integrated into our everyday lives? What are the privacy implications, and where do the real business opportunities lie? Zia Yusuf, CEO of Streetline, will discuss how sensors, connectivity, and software can make problems such as finding a parking spot a thing of the past. This presentation, moderated by Seattle Times’ technology columnist Brier Dudley, will launch a larger discussion on the technological implications of the Internet of Things, as compared and contrasted by a panel including Stefan Weitz of Microsoft, Scott Sedlik of Inrix, and Joshua Smith of the UW.
