This year, three different tracks will cover 1.) Developer-focused WordPress topics. 2.) WordPress design topics, and 3.) a general introduction to WordPress usage, including how to get started with WordPress, how to use it for business, and how to make money on WordPress.
This year’s summit meeting will feature conference keynoter Scott Berkun, a local Microsoft alum who has been drafted by WordPress parent Automattic as Team Social Lead, and Andrew Nacin, a core developer of the WordPress web publishing platform and a Tech Ninja at WordPress founder Matt Mullenweg’s research firm. According to co-organizer Calvin Freitas, this year’s confab is designed “for anybody who wants to create a website, who wants to blog, design for websites, run a business on the Internet, or make money with a WordPress site.” Not surprisingly, Seattle is emerging as a WordPress capitol. At monthly WordPress meetups which have quadrupled in size in recent months, the sessions are being led by local developers like Jason Schuler whose Seattle company, Press 75, makes leading-edge WordPress themes and resources.
Other featured developers who are pushing the envelope on WordPress design and publishing creativity include Alex King, Aziz Jacinto, Chris Molitor, Michael Field, Toby McKes and Will Anderson, plus WordPress coaches Bob Dunn, Justin Sainton, and for a refreshing change odf pace, female technologists and innovators Divya Manian and Healther Gold.
This pivotal season, when HTML 5 is becoming more widely adopted, WordPress 3.1 is at the precipice (remember Windows 3.1?).
