“The Hawk Shank Redemption,” was just one of the whimsical headlines making the rounds online after Seattle gained its first playoff win of the redemptive 2016 NFL Playoffs by just one point. The same kicker who scored all nine points for the Minnesota Vikings missed a fateful, 27-yard field goal attempt in the third coldest playoff game in NFL history.
With the laces turned inward on the hold, kicker Blair Walsh connected with the ball, but shanked the field goal attempt wide left as the entire state of Minnesota felt their hearts sink along with their’s team’s playoff hopes.
Was the win a winter thaw of karmic, cosmic proportion, and redemption, for Seattle’s last second loss in Super Bowl 49? The kick attempt was a shank, making the “Hawk Shank Redemption” an even more fitting movie caption than “The Blair Switch, Glitch or Itch Project.”
Best of all, the Harvey image and zinger was uploaded by the Seahawk’s own sidelined wide receiver, Ricardo Lockette, who is out for the season as an Injured Reserve.
“VIKINGS WIN!” was the meme-like headline emblazoned over Steve Harvey’s beaming face mocking the Emcee s foot-in-mouth fiasco in the Miss Universe pageant. “It’s Good!!! Vikings Win” was the cut-line for Mr. Harvey’s misbelief posted by Lockette. Another beauty pageant image showed the Miss Universe crown being placed atop the Vikings logo!
“Miracle on Ice” was yet another way to describe the chilling conclusion to an utterly frigid NFL game day in Minnesota! [24×7]
