Join Pam Jacobson and Hugh Matsubayashi for an interactive session on what entrepreneurs & investors need to know about patents & intellectual property, including a discussion on how to identify and protect startups’ technology innovations to secure value.

Pam Jacobson is a Partner at K&L Gates and serves as the Firmwide Practice Group Coordinator for the Intellectual Property Practice Group. She has a broad IP practice and has successfully litigated patent, trademark, and other IP disputes throughout the United States. She also manages the patent and trademark portfolios of some of the largest companies and universities in the Pacific Northwest. Her technical background is in computational chemistry and molecular biology, and prior to attending law school, she worked as a research scientist at the University of Chicago and Honeywell International.

Hugh Matsubayashi is a partner at K&L Gates specializing in patent prosecution and intellectual property transactions. Mr. Matsubayashi has experience across a range of technologies, including medical devices, computer hardware and software, e-commerce, and semiconductor manufacturing. He has represented clients in an array of matters, including prosecution of domestic and international patent applications, intellectual property licensing, and intellectual property due diligence. Having served as in-house counsel at a venture-funded medical device start-up as well as a Fortune 500 information technology company, Mr. Matsubayashi understands the importance of tailoring each client’s intellectual property strategy to its practical business needs.
