Abstract: Container are enabling new ways to run your application by containerizing the application and all services making them portable, extensible, and easy to burst across mix of environments that include private data centers and public clouds. Containers have some advantages over VM’s and understand the workload and factors such as application need with I/O, OS, networking and security will help determine the best fit with minimal tuning.

In this talk, we will explore tools and practical uses for Containers with various workflows, how they are being applied to application development and DevOps practices, and consideration for selection between VMs and container architectures. We will cover:

• overview of Docker component /tools

• show and application being containerized, deployed and managed

• review best practices consideration when selecting and using containers ( heterogeneous vs homogeneous OS requirements – containers vs VMs) ; consideration for security, performance…
