What: Corporate counsel play an important role in companies of all sizes. In a small company, corporate counsel may be a single individual who wears multiple hats in the organization. In a large company, top corporate counsel’s primary role may be managing a team of legal professionals and working with outside law firms. In every company, corporate counsel works with management on risk issues and significant transactions ranging from complex mergers and acquisitions, to managing litigation and employee-related manners.
Puget Sound Business Journal’s Corporate Counsel Awards highlight outstanding work by both generalists and specialists in public and private companies and nonprofit organizations of all sizes. And, even more important, emphasize the value these professionals add to their organizations’ bottom lines. The Business Journal also will present special awards to an individual who champions diversity within the legal profession and to a young breakout star within the corporate council community.
