I’m working with some colleagues to spin the Seattle DevOps Monthly Group meetup group back up. Meetups will be held during one Wednesday a month starting on September 18, 2019 from 5:30pm-7:30pm at Chef Software in Pioneer Square. ☁️🛠
Each meetup will feature 2 talks about 25 minutes long. If you have a topic you would like to present please DM the meetup Organizer. No product demo or pitches please—we want to focus on learning, not selling.
For Wednesday September 18th meetup we have the following 2 speakers:

Talk Title: Docs for DevOps
Abstract:
The best answer is almost always, “Hire a writer”. But when you are working in a team, interest group, or volunteer project, that doesn’t always seem like an answer. In the absence of an expert, how can a team capture the information that is essential to running and maintaining the project? What is the essential information, and what is fluff? Who is in charge and does a style guide matter? What do you do if no one wants to be in charge? We know from the GitHub poll that poor documentation in open source projects is a pain point for new and experienced contributors.
Kaslin Fields – Oracle
Talk Title: Welcome to Cloud Land! An Overview of the Cloud Native Technology Landscape.
Abstract:
“DevOps,” “Cloud Native,” these terms are so often mentioned together – but why is that and what do they mean? What technologies fit into the “Cloud Native” category? In this talk, you will take a fun comic-driven journey through the Cloud Native technology landscape. In addition to learning about core types of Cloud Native technologies, you will see examples of popular Open Source projects that fill important roles in a DevOps environment – such as Kubernetes, Terraform, and more.
There will be food and drink provided by sponsors–more information on food as the meetup draws near.
If you are interested in sponsoring this meetup please reach out to the Organizer.
