EKPHRASTIC is the art auction to help The Greater Seattle Bureau of Fearless Ideas (or BFI- http://fearlessideas.org/) open its new satellite space at Yesler Terrace! By attending and bidding you’ll help us raise funds to buy computers, books, hire staff and gussy up the joint before it opens its doors this fall.
EKPHRASTIC pairs adult artists with student writers (Grades 1st – 12th) for unique inspiration. Each work of art has been created in response to an existing piece of student writing or donated to inspire a new piece of student writing. The result is a visual and narrative collaboration–an “ekphrasis” if you will–that captures the spirit of creativity and community at BFI.
Admission includes silent and live auctions hosted by Matt Smith, a program of artists and student writers, light noshes, and hosted beer and wine. Can’t attend, but still want to support this event? Make a donation online! (charityauction.bid/FearlessIdeas)
