Hardware is hard, but getting started doesn’t need to be. Startup founder Scott Heimendinger will show you ways to start prototyping your next great idea, without a massive bankroll. Through show-and-tell demos, you’ll learn where to start with Ardunio and microcontrollers, CAD and 3d printing, designing your first circuit board, and the steps along the way to make a professional, functional prototype on a DIY budget.
Scott Heimendinger is an entrepreneur and inventor working at the intersection of food and technology. He was formerly the Technical Director for Modernist Cuisine, a culinary research and innovation lab. Scott was also a founder of Sansaire, a first-wave sous vide startup that raised record-breaking funds on Kickstarter. In 2012, Forbes included Scott in their honorable “30 Under 30” list in the Food & Wine category.
Prior to his work in food, Scott spent his career in the software industry, working for Microsoft and IBM. During that time, his passion for food and technology led him to create SeattleFoodGeek.com, a blog on which he explores at-home adaptations of modernist cooking techniques using inexpensive, often improvised equipment.
Scott is currently working on a new venture, still in stealth mode, and is concurrently working with Anova to bring their new home combi-oven to market. He loves robots, lasers, and great typography.
