How to Evaluate Design & Ad Work: ONLINE CLASS, AIGA/SVC
When: Tuesday, May 21, 2013, 10:30 AM–11:45 AM
Where: Online
What: Being a client is one of the toughest jobs in the world. You’re often faced with having to make quick judgments about creative concepts and the fine points of writing and design, even though you’re admittedly no expert on creativity, writing, or design. The second hardest job is being a creative director or supervisor put in the same evaluator role. You’re probably a capable designer or writer yourself, but that’s a far different task than giving useful critical feedback.
Whichever of these two boats you’re in, you’ll find this workshop to be worth its weight in antacids for the grief it will help you avoid at the time of creative decision-making. Here are a few of the topics that will be covered:
> The mechanics of a crit: how, when, where, and who should evaluate creative work
> Understanding what’s on the agenda of graphic designers, copywriters, web designers and other creatives
> Getting everyone to agree on what the creative solution is supposed to accomplish
> A systematic approach for determining good from bad creative concepts
> How to give feedback clearly, constructively and without crushing egos
This class will be taught online, and you’ll need a computer, a high-speed internet connection, and a web browser to participate. You’ll be able to interact with the instructor and ask questions, as the course will be offered live. Attendees will also be provided with access to a recorded version of the course, so you can watch it again later.
Who: This online workshop is for anyone who is in a position of to evaluate and approve creative work done by designers and writers.
