Introduction to Tableau [Live-Online]

Learn how to interrogate data like a forensic detective and tell a captivating data story. This will be an end-to-end presentation on using Tableau: from getting data to cleaning and visualizing it to gain insights. At the end, we’ll create a storyboard to share with a business team.

This workshop will be a presentation with time for Q&A at the end.

Skill Level:

Beginners are encouraged and welcome!

What You Will Learn:

In this presentation you’ll learn how to create the following in Tableau:

• charts
• calculated fields
• dashboards
• storyboards

Plus, learn how to:

• interrogate data
• tell a story with data

About your instructor:

Michelle Hoogenhout, Ph.D. is a senior data scientist/instructor at Galvanize, Inc. She has worked within the areas of health and wellness monitoring and education as a researcher, data scientist, and educator. Michelle received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Cape Town and fellowship in neuropsychiatric genetics from Harvard School of Public Health. She has published on topics such as statistics and data management, data science training methods, ethics, and cognitive and physiological assessment. When she’s not playing around with R, Python, SQL or Tableau, you can find her hiking wild mountain ranges or tending to her vegetable garden.
