Sujal Patel co-founded Isilon Systems back in 2001 to provide companies with cheaper and more efficient data storage for multimedia content hosting and delivery. It attracted venture funding from leading VCs, including Madrona Venture Group, Atlas Venture, and Sequoia Capital. Isilon flew high and raised $108 million in an IPO at the end of 2006. By the following year, the company was failing to meet its own sales projections, and its stock price plummeted.
Patel, then CTO, was appointed CEO in late 2007 and turned things around, leading to the company’s acquisition by data storage giant EMC in November 2010 for $2.25 billion.
Join us on February 9th to hear Isilon Founder & CEO Sujal Patel and Matt McIlwain from Madrona Venture Group share the trials, tribulations, best practices, and lessons learned over the past 10 years that eventually led to a highly successful exit.
