Understanding and Controlling Web Applications
When: June 21, 2012, 5:30 pm-7:30 pm
Where: 403 Madison Ave N., (upstairs in the Pavilion), Bainbridge island, WA 98110
Internet and social media applications are a common source of vulnerabilities and attacks. IT pros are faced with the challenge of managing and controlling a growing number of web applications without hindering productivity. Your business needs to understand and control which applications employees use. If not, you expose your business to viruses, malware, lack of productivity, and inefficient use of limited bandwidth.
In this talk we will:
Distinguish “web site” from “web application”
Compare software and hardware solutions (anti-virus suites vs. firewall appliance/UTM)
Look for Internet usage patterns by logging and analyzing data traffic
Create an Application Control management strategy with granular controls by application
Extend the view outside the firewall to applications such as Facebook and security and privacy controls
