Mission Driven: How to Start a Social Enterprise, WWBC

What: This seminar will explain the differences in mission driven entities in Washington State, from nonprofits to B Corps; as well as co-ops, mission driven LLCs, and the triple bottom line. The presentation will cover the pros and cons of these structures and how to start or file each type: including obtaining an EIN, filing Articles, drafting operating agreements or bylaws, filing your 501(c)(3) application, and obtaining business licenses. Other topics to be covered include hiring independent contractors versus employees, fiscal sponsorship, applicable government agencies, and more. This presentation is focused on for and not for profit businesses in Washington State.
Who: Autumn is a licensed attorney in the State of Washington. Prior to law school, she was a social worker for the State of Arizona. During law school, she was an editor for the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation, interned at multiple nonprofit organizations, extender for the Lane County Circuit Court, and completed two fellowships. After law school, Autumn completed a two-year judicial clerkship for the Jerome County District Court in Idaho. Upon completion of her clerkship, she relocated to Seattle and founded SoundLaw.
