Project Management for the Web – Level 1, School of Visual Concepts
When: Thursday, August 1, 2013, 10:00 AM–5:00 PM
Where: School of Visual Concepts, 500 Aurora Ave. N., Seattle
What: At one point or another we’re all going to be called on to manage a project. And many of us who manage Web projects are often “accidental” project managers who have fallen into the role through no fault of our own. Don’t feel bad, you’re not alone and help is available. In this class we will examine many of the technologies popular on the Web today and put those technologies into proper context through review of the fundamentals of project management. It’s all about reducing your pain and helping you take back your life.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
1) Give students a foundation in project management basics including scoping, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management.
2) Introduce students to current Web technologies and discuss those technologies in the context of project management.
3) Review important documents and tools as well as strategies and tactics for managing Web projects.
Please Note: technology discussions will focus on basic considerations necessary for project management and will not get into detail with code, hardware, or the operation of specific tools beyond the level necessary for our discussion.
