The battle around emerging devices is becoming red hot: Gartner predicts that worldwide tablet sales will reach 19.5 million units this year, driven by the success of the iPad. Tablet sales are projected to total 54.8 million units in 2011 and surpass 208 million units in 2014 according to Gartner. AT&T’s Vice President of Emerging is estimating embedded devices will drive U.S. wireless penetration from 90 percent today to 300 percent by 2013. He is also expecting the real “explosion” in tablets to occur from the second quarter of 2011.
