TiE Seattle event: The Eccentric Visionary – Arunachalam Murugananthan

July 17, 2015 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$10 – $20

TiE Seattle in partnership with Seattle University is pleased to bring to you the social entrepreneur, Arunachalam Murugananthan who is a self-taught inventor, that came up with a set of machines capable of producing sterile sanitary pads at a very low cost. In 2014, Time Magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people.

Murugantham is a hailed visionary in India, and his work has not only had a major impact on girl’s health and education, but has changed the nature of public discourse around women’s health and menstruation, bringing attention to what has been a taboo subject for centuries. A major result of his widely available sanitary pads and machinery, has helped a large number of teenage girls to stay in school, rather than leaving school upon reaching puberty.

Muruganantham, a speaker with a distinct brand of charisma, will speak of the opportunity he saw, the barricades he removed, and the guts it required to make the change that he did.

Refreshments will be served before the event. The event is Co-Sponsored by Seattle University.

We hope you can make it!
