User Experience Design Basics Bootcamp, April 2

What: This bootcamp aims to demystify UX by giving a practical and simple introduction to what UX is, while also explaining some of its core concepts. This is a field that affects all areas of business — prepare to dip your toes into an ocean of new concepts and ideas that will enlighten your perspective on user experience.

PART I – A GLIMPSE INTO UX

We will start with an overview of User Experience and then discuss some of the different types of roles and teams where UX can live (startups, enterprise, consultancies, etc) as well as commonly used tools and terms (lean, agile, responsive, mobile, etc). PART II -UX DESIGN PROCESS

Walk through the UX design process from idea to release with some hands-on exercises to consolidate the different concepts learned.
Please note: Light lunch will be provided to students.

Takeaways
Students will be able to: – Discussion about good and bad user experience – Differences between various UX roles – High-level understanding how UX fits within the development process and the UX deliverables for various stages. – Activity: Sketch a basic wireframe and practice communicating design thoughts

About the Instructor
Carlye is a professional dancer turned UX Designer/Content Strategist. Before finding General Assembly, she founded and directed a dance company, created curriculum and taught dance classes, and went on performance tours. She also worked as a freelance web copywriter and content strategist. She has a Sociology degree from the University of British Columbia. Carlye is genuinely interested in understanding the goals and motivations behind human behavior, and creating designs that meet those needs. She seeks to design solutions that allow people to better enjoy their life experiences. Carlye is an avid adventurer-she loves to travel, taste test and explore the outdoors.
