Wage and Hour Issues – Independent Contractors, Classifications, Volunteers and other HR Hazards
Approval for HRCI credit pending
In response to members’ requests for more relevant legal programs, this month’s chapter meeting will focus on the often confusing and increasingly investigated area of wage and hour issues. We will cover minimum wage and overtime basics, including exempt and non-exempt employees. We will explain how making the right decision to classify a worker as an independent contractor or an employee is important, and provide guidance for doing so. We will also cover how non-profit organizations can use volunteers and the rules for all employers regarding internships.
