What: Join AIGA national board president Doug Powell and AIGA’s project manager for social engagement Amy Chapman as they discuss AIGA’s Design for Good efforts from the past year, including design summits on how to trigger daily choices that lead to better nutrition and the “Gain: AIGA Design for Social Value Conference,” where presenters demonstrated the broadening role design plays in institutional strategy, leadership, process and service, product and message, and reflected on how the creative attributes of designers provide special advantages in tackling socially relevant projects that enhance the human experience.

Session attendees will be encouraged to weigh in on what kinds of tools and resources they would find helpful and explore ideas for ways that AIGA can further support and promote the work of designers who are making an impact.

Design for Good is a platform to build and sustain the implementation of design thinking for social change. This platform creates opportunities for designers to build their practice, their network and their visibility. Design for Good recognizes the wide range of designers’ work and their leadership in social change, which benefits the world, our country and our communities. Its purpose is to demonstrate how the design mind can play a critical role in solving difficult social problems with human-scale solutions.

Design for Good supports and sustains designers who play a catalytic role in communities through projects that create positive social impact. By connecting and empowering designers through online networking tools, inspirational stories, chapter events, training, national advocacy and promotion, Design for Good serves as a powerful resource for designers who wish to work in this area and a beacon for designers leading the charge.
