Whatever Happened to Weekends?, Graphic Artists Guild

What: Creatives must regularly accomplish the seemingly impossible. The list of miracles expected of creatives (both freelance and otherwise) includes:
-Expand creative skills but still take care of business
-Spend sometimes overwhelming hours on clients’ projects and still devote healthy
amounts of time to family, friends, and self
-Handle restrictions, roadblocks and rejections with style and grace
What’s way more important than work is what you do when you’re not working. Clearing your head makes you more effective and efficient.
This event will cover:
-The best way to prioritize your day (it’s not necessarily what you think)
-Tips to spark creativity and develop creativity
-How to shift mental gears
-Developing a knack for staying cool

Who: Jim Krause, a long-time Pacific Northwest designer/author/photographer (graduated from SCCC in 1982) has worked for clients large and small. His clientele has included Microsoft, Seattle Public Schools, Cingular wireless and others. Jim has written over a dozen books on graphic design and digital photography, many of which are bestsellers in their genre and are on sale around the world. When he’s not working, Jim can usually be found riding his bike or motorcycle, hiking, creating art or seeking espresso of the highest quality.
