Position: UI Artist
Where: Kirkland
What: WB Games seeks a UI Artist to work with a variety of team members to help design, create, implement and optimize UI assets for Console and PC game titles. In this role, you are responsible for maintaining high visual fidelity, competitive aesthetics, logical menu flow, and presenting game information in a clear and understandable manner. The UI artist must work with industry standard and our own proprietary tool set to ensure a high level of fit and finish to all UI elements.
Responsibilities:
Working with Art Directors, Producers and Game designers the UI Artist will help design and shape the visual and functional aspects of the game’s interface needs. This may also include UI workflow optimizations and developing new techniques for visual display and information presentation.
Job Responsibilities:
Design and create UI components – menus, stats and inventory screens, in-game HUD elements, etc.
Assist the UI programmer in the implementation of UI components.
Collaborate and communicate with art directors, game designers, producers & programmers in the creation and implementation of the game UI.
Contribute to the design of UI tools and processes.
Requirements:
Work Experience:
At least 3+ years experience in the industry
At least 1 published game preferably 360 or PS3
Strong knowledge of user interface design and the ability to generate design ideas
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification:
Degree in Illustration, Graphic Design, Industrial Design or equivalent work experience as a User Interface artist
Knowledge/Skills:
At least 3+ years experience with industry standard 3-D package (Maya, Max, SoftImage)
2D art tools and authoring tools like Flash
Strong interpersonal and team skills
Strong traditional art skills a bonus
Other Requirements:
Portfolio/website demonstrating your art skills, design sensibilities, and attention to detail.
Ability to work well in a team environment and redo/iterate work until it’s right
