Position: SEO/SMO Specialist

What: Avvo is the largest medical and legal resource online that empowers consumers with the information and expert-only advice they need to confidently make the right decisions about their health and legal needs. We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-starting search engine and social media optimization guru to develop and implement white-hat strategies, tactics and campaigns to optimize and grow Avvo’s search traffic and help our clients do the same. You will be the go-to person on all things SEO and SMO and an internal and external evangelist on new search techniques and search best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as the SEO/SMO expert in the company and keep on top of the latest SEO/SMO best practices, trends and Google updates
• Recommend and advocate new strategies, improvements and ideas for maximizing Avvo’s search engine presence and return-on-investment
• Develop SEO and social media content and copy that maximizes opportunities for indexing, ranking, click-through, and conversion
• Work closely with the product team to ensure that Avvo is fully utilizing best practices around keywords, H1 tags, website content and navigation to meet traffic objectives and key organic search positions
• Work with others in the marketing team to develop social media campaigns that meet both our engagement and search traffic goals
• Serve as the key SEO/SMO expert and evangelist for Avvo’s key clients, including participating in webinars, authoring guides and teaming up with sales and account on key client calls
• Maintain SEO/SMO metrics dashboard to monitor and track search performance
• Attend and/or speak at search and social media industry events
Requirements:
• At least 3 years SEO and social media experience required, with deep a understanding of Google Analytics and strategies and tactics to optimize search presence using social media, including Google +
• Proven track record in growing search traffic
• Passionate about search and online marketing to the point of being an evangelist
• Excellent analytical and multi-tasking skills – grace under pressure!
• Self-starter with the ability to work well in a cross-functional team of marketers, developers and product managers and proactively bring forward and advocate ideas
• Excellent writing skills with strong command of English language, while understanding advertising and marketing language
• Ability to communicate internally and externally to clients at all levels — via phone, email and in person
• 4 year college degree or equivalent relevant experience
• A working knowledge of HTML and CSS and blogging platforms like WordPress
• Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and Excel proficiency
