This is a full-time position working with a collaborative, high-energy development team to design, create and support learning solutions leveraging a RESTful web services platform that drives our product technology. The position will require you to take a lead role in defining and owning the software development of key technologies. You will have the opportunity to work on high profile, client focused products as well as write code that can scale and sustain high growth and demand.
Responsibilities:
- Work within an Agile development process and attend daily scrum meetings
- Produce individual test plans to run against developed code
- Assist with front-end design, documentation and project scoping
Requirements:
- Minimum 5 plus years using Java, advanced knowledge and experience required
- Project experience in two languages other than Java
- Experience consuming RESTful web services
- Experience with Java frameworks like Spring or Play
- Proven track record in delivering Enterprise level solutions
- BA/BS in Computer Science required with a minimum 5 plus years developing web based applications
- Demonstrated expertise in creating cross-browser user interfaces from wire-frames and specifications using object-oriented JavaScript, clean and elegant HTML and CSS, DOM Scripting, and JSON
- Avid user of JavaScript libraries such as Scriptaculous, Prototype or jQuery – but especially jQuery (and can write basic JavaScript by hand when necessary)
- Keeps up with forward-focused technology (SASS, CSS3, HTML5, APIs, semantics)
- Knowledge of common cross-browser issues and fixes
- Takes joy in upholding web standards, accessibility, and usability
- Believes in best practices, validation, testing, compatibility, and performance
- Familiarity with progressive enhancement techniques
- Experience interacting with server side languages (such as PHP)
- Version control with Git
- Mobile site experience a plus
- Self motivated, and be able to multitask
- Enthusiasm for your work and ability to work in a team, with strong communication and collaboration skills
