Position: Interaction Designer

What: Blue Nile is currently seeking an Interaction Designer to join their growing Creative Services UI team. They’re looking for someone with strong information architecture skills, prototyping skills, and comfortable working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. You should be an experienced designer and innovator with hands-on design skills, ready to build new and exciting functionality and features.
You are a technical and creative wunderkind; you love exercising both sides of your brain to solve complex systems and process a driving passion for designing products the right way for the people who use them. You are good at rapid prototyping and love iterations and testing. This position will work closely with the technology, UX, merchandising, and site development teams. Working with the Lead UI Designer, you will play a major role on all site projects. Must be able to present complex wireframes, prototypes or visual solutions to internal stakeholders and communicate technology and strategies behind design ideas and executions.
Primary Responsibilities:
•Create detailed navigation flows, site maps, user stories, wireframes and interactions that are customer centric
•Create functional prototypes that display highly innovative, engaging, and user centered designs
•Partner with Visual Designer to design effective and creative digital experiences
•Proactively look for opportunities for reuse. Adhere to the interactive style guide and interaction uniformity within and across projects
•Work with UI team leaders in creation of modern user interfaces with a focus on usability and intuitive, efficient user interaction
•Work with UX leadership to evangelize user-centered design through training, role modeling, and influencing project teams
•Responsible for helping to define and estimate wireframing, prototyping and visual design requirements for small, medium and large projects
Qualifications:
•Minimum of 3+ years experience in interactive/digital design, information architecture or visual design
•Advanced knowledge of web technologies (i.e. HTML5 and CSS) required
•Fluency with standard design software tools (Photoshop, Illustrator, etc) required
•Advanced interaction design and web technology skills (i.e. HTML5, Javascript) is required
•Advanced experience in creating and implementing usability user flow diagrams and wireframes is required
•Experience with creating and implementing usability studies, personas and storyboards is s plus
•Experience with Axure or Omnigrapple is a plus
•Possess solid communication and presentation skills
•Bachelor’s degree in Interactive Communications, Visual Design, technology or education with relevance to position
