Position: Senior Systems Engineer
Where: Seattle
What: PTSO, a non-profit corporation providing health information technology to Washington State’s community health centers, is seeking an experienced Sr. Engineer for its corporate office in Seattle.
S/he will contribute to the team that designs, manages, and maintains all components of the PTSO corporate and physical systems infrastructure, including WAN/LAN, network operating systems, utility software, and physical hardware and virtual and software resources deployed in the corporate data center, corporate offices, satellite facilities, and remote users.
Responsibilities:
- Designing, deploying, and delivering highly reliable and redundant WAN/LAN, systems, remote terminal services (including Citrix XenApp and print services), and virtualization environments (including Citrix XenServer)
• Monitoring and managing WAN/LAN and system infrastructure, including Citrix Xenapp/XenServer, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Windows Server (including clusters), NetApp SAN, Cisco routers and switches, and HP blade enclosures
• Developing and executing WAN/LAN and systems capacity planning
• Facilitating and troubleshooting WAN connectivity issues with clients
• Providing OS support for server environment (100+), including upgrades and patch management
• Deploying and maintaining disaster recovery site
• Planning and executing moves, adds, and changes
• Analyzing, designing, testing, and documenting new network and systems hardware and software
• Cross-training with team to learn and support other critical systems, including SQL and application support
• Responding to after-hours calls and/or participating in 24/7 call rotation
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in network/systems operations, including experience with Citrix XenApp and XenServer
• Experience in healthcare environments is strongly preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field is preferred
• Citrix and/or MCSE certification is preferred
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to explain technical information to users with varying levels of technical knowledge
