If you will thrive in a high volume work environment with short deadlines and quick turnaround, then this role is for you. We need a highly motivated and skilled Engineer (rockstar) to manage, maintain and develop our large-scale production and corporate systems environments.
Rhapsody is searching for a Senior Systems Engineer that will be responsible for designing, planning, implementing, supporting and troubleshooting systems infrastructure. This includes the implementation and design of hardware and software as well as monitoring the performance of systems. We are looking for a rockstar, who can handle any challenge.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will help oversee and maintain a large Linux based server environment (with a little Windows sprinkled in there), including virtualized, bare-metal and cloud infrastructures.
You will be a Senior engineer on the team, solving the most difficult problems, and providing technical expertise for the team.
You will develop and maintain the baseline systems configuration and implement controls using Chef configuration management. Should be able to write and troubleshoot Chef cookbooks on a regular basis, review code changes and assess impact.
Oversee and interact with various monitoring systems (Zabbix, Nagios, Solarwinds) to assess the health of the systems and applications. Work closely with our 24x7x365 NOC in support of Incident Management to minimize the impact of outages. Provide on call support with expert level troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
Share responsibility in managing multi-vendor storage arrays for both production and preproduction environments, and monitoring for growth and performance bottlenecks.
Participate in technology evaluation & selection. Experiment and lead proof of concepts for new and emerging technologies. Analyze and provide justification for business use cases.
Requirements:
5+ years of previous Linux systems design, engineering and administration experience in a 24×7 global, mission-critical production environment.
Strong skills in tuning of Linux systems (RHEL/CentOS) and application servers such as Tomcat, Apache, Rails for performance and scale.
Basic Windows Server admin skills (Domain Controllers, Fileservers, etc.).
Strong skills with Chef, Ruby, Perl and bash scripting.
Intermediate knowledge of VMware VCenter, preferably in UCS/FlexPod environment.
Experience administering company-wide backup/data protection/DR systems. (SnapMirror/Commvault a plus).
Experience designing and maintaining high volume log collection/aggregation facility. (ELK).
Knowledge of and operational support experience with various data stores such as: Cassandra, Hadoop, Redis, Mongo, Elasticsearch.
Knowledge of TCP/IP and networking, strong understanding of HTTP load balancing with a preference to Citrix Netscaler. Understanding of how caching works with global load balancing and CDN based traffic configurations.
BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
Project Management skills.
