Position: Sr. Software Engineer

What: iSpot.tv is a fast growing venture backed start-up with rapidly ramping revenues. We have a product that is changing how brands, agencies and networks measure and assess the impact of TV advertising campaigns. Our software uses proprietary audio and video analysis to monitor and extract TV commercials, movie trailers and other promotional content from TV. At the same time, our software analyzes consumer interactions with TV ads on the digital screen across search, video and social. Interactions are matched with specific ads and attributed back to airings on TV.
This is a rare opportunity to get equity in the early stages of a company with significant early traction and which is run by an experienced team.
We are looking for someone that is HIGHLY motivated and knows how to get things done quickly and efficiently. We are not looking for a coding robot — we are looking for someone that’s highly creative and has an insatiable appetite for learning new things and accomplishing challenging goals in a fast moving (and not always structured) environment.
Responsibilities:
• Work on developing new capabilities for our propriety audio and video analysis/recognition platform
• Measure and Improve the accuracy/performance of the content recognition algorithms.
• Expanding our TV coverage to multiple markets/data centers across US and internationally.
• Develop quality control tools and algorithms to ensure quality and accuracy of the data.
• Contribute to the scaling, performance and reliability of the platform.
• Develop internal monitoring tools and processes to improve platform.
Requirements:
• BS degree in Computer Science and 5+ years of industry experience in JAVA
• Proficiency with OO language concepts and design patterns
• MySQL, SQL Server or Oracle experience
• Experience with audio/video fingerprinting systems/algorithms
• Experience with RDBMS scaling challenges, data modeling, XML processing, SOAP, REST, HTTP, JSON
• Ability to take a project from scoping requirements through actual launch of the project
• Knowledge of best practices of software development including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
• Experience with Eclipse IDE
• Experience with Lucene/SOLR
• Familiarity with Spring/Hibernate/Mybatis/Ibatis
• Experience using and managing AWS/EC2/S3
