We’re looking for a database engineer to take ownership of ongoing database design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance for the Brown Paper Tickets platform. Under a senior project manager and lead developer, you’ll help build and support solutions for some of the biggest challenges in today’s event industry.
Responsibilities:
Uphold, safeguard, and promote the organization’s values and philosophy, relating particularly to ethics, integrity, corporate/social responsibility; ‘Fair Trade’, ‘Not Just For Profit’, etc.
Design, architect, model, develop and support PostgreSQL databases in a high-volume CentOS Linux environment
Develop and support data migration procedures from legacy systems
Design, implement, and manage processes for ongoing performance tuning and preventative maintenance
Perform capacity planning and implementation of new database instances to meet operational needs
Implement security and data protection to ensure PCI-compliance
Write, modify, and debug complex database procedures to meet specifications
Design and implement systems for data redundancy and backups
Ensure enterprise-wide data accessibility and assist in the creation of data reporting systems as needed
Maintain comprehensive documentation and standards on production database environments
Take initiative when you spot an opportunity for improvement
Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders
Requirments:
5+ years SQL database architecture and design experience
Engineering, architecture, administering, and managing relational databases with enterprise systems (PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or MS-SQL)
Experience writing triggers and/or rules
Experience coding in both structured and scripted languages
Knowledge in performance tuning and best practices
Ability to triage issues in an end-to-end manner with awareness of how web applications and caching impact database performance and availability
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Nice-to-have:
Experience designing and writing code for performance in a high-volume environment
Experience with Postgres and Tcl
Experience with search algorithms and eCommerce facted navigation strategies
Experience with secure/private data environments
Strong skills in writing raw, performance-optimized queries
