The ideal candidate is personable, energetic, and a creative implementer. Primary responsibilities include overseeing the execution of communications plan activities, including media, promotions, website, and collateral materials, developing materials to deliver Bellwether’s messages to the public and the media, and overseeing and assisting with organization and coordination of conferences, meetings and special events. This person will also be responsible for ensuring donor data integrity.
Bellwether Housing is a highly respected non-profit housing organization, providing affordable apartments to 1,900 households in 30 properties throughout Seattle, as well as development consulting services to other non-profits throughout the state. Position Responsibilities:
Events
• Under the direction of the Director of Fund Development and Communications, conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help
make decisions about event possibilities.
• Assist with negotiations for space contracts, arrange food and beverage, order supplies and audio-visual equipment.
• Assist with managing on-site production and cleanup for events as necessary.
• Assist with preparing event budgets. Track event finances including check requests, invoicing, and reporting.
• Prepare nametags, materials, notebooks, packages, gift bags, registration lists, seating cards, etc.
• Propose new ideas to improve the event planning and implementation process.
Communications:
• Support the Director of Fund Development and Communications in strategic communication efforts focused on generating revenue, expanding
Bellwether’s circle of influence, raising Bellwether’s public profile and creating strategic partnerships.
• Help develop and oversee the communications calendar to ensure timely execution of the program.
• Execute media strategy, including drafting press releases, newsletters, and communications/messaging.
• Create collateral materials for general and issue/event-specific use.
• Manage Bellwether’s website, Facebook page, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social media with regular updates of new content.
• Staff exhibitor tables for Bellwether at special events.
• Manage all digital media production, including graphics, photos, and video.
• Manage relationships with public relations, communications, and/or marketing consultants.
• Be responsible for ensuring accuracy in information and proofreading.
• Analyze marketing and communications programs and make recommendations to adjust strategy and tactics to increase effectiveness.
Fundraising Administration
• Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
• Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files.
• Create monthly fundraising reports and other database reports as needed.
• Continually update and correct database records.
• Conduct preliminary research on prospective corporate foundation and individual donors.
• Coordinate production and mailing of appeal letters.

Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, and professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including the ability to
present concepts verbally
• Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills.
• Superior project management and time management skills.
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media.
• Ability to use a contact management system and other social media to create and send emails, newsletters, etc.
